Dragon-fantasy themed forms of entertainment have always been rather popular as many love the appeal that the mythical creature provides and Dragon Maiden certainly has bundles of appeal.

Developed and created by Play n’ Go, the Swedish industry-leading software developer have produced a slot game that is full of bonus features – and dragons – whilst the graphics certainly make the user experience one that many will not forget when giving the reels a spin.

Our Dragon Maiden review certainly came across a number of excellent features within the game, including a Dragon Maiden Free Play version for players that do not want to play the game for real money to begin with.

Gameplay

Dragon Maiden slot game consists of five reels across three rows and provides players with huge 243 different ways to win. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg as the game has the possibility of expanding to six rows and providing 7,776 winnable ways.

Players can spin the reels of this Play n’ Go title from as little as 0.20¢ whereas the maximum bet is available at $100 per spin. There is an ‘Autoplay’ function available, which allows players to choose between 10 and 100 consecutive spins, although they can be interrupted by the various settings bettors can pick between.

Dragon Maiden has 9 payment symbols, 1 random wild symbol and 1 scatter symbol. The clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades are arranged at the low end in ascending order. The high-level symbols are in the form of dragon coins, daggers, rings with blue gems and amulets with red gems. Dragon Maiden is the highest paid symbol, and it will randomly become a wild symbol. The animated dragon acts as a scatter, and will emit fire and smoke when they land on two reels.

Feature Bonuses

Play n’ Go have certainly ramped up the Dragon Maiden bonus features in this slot game, as there are many surprising moments we managed to come across when doing our review. Although we say surprising, they were welcomed with open arms!

When two of the animated dragon scatters land across the reels, the game will trigger a free spin for the player, whilst the reels with the dragon then become locked. The feature will then continue until either five dragons are landed on or when a new scatter does not land.

The Dragon Maiden is the highest-value symbol of this game. When she falls on the screen in any spin in the base game or free spins, she can randomly transform into wild symbols. The symbol will also be randomly expanded to increase its size to two or three symbols high.

Spin and place five Dragon Maiden symbols at a time, and see them transform into fully expanded wild symbols, which will produce a full screen of wild symbols. This will reward the biggest win in the base game, with a stake of approximately 3,000 times the stake.

For players who are able to land three or more of the aforementioned scatters, a free spins feature will be triggered. This will then provide players with the chance to expand the game from three rows to six and increase the wins from 243 ways to the huge 7,776 ways.

Depending on the number of scatters landed, a number of free spins will be awarded. Three scatters will provide players with 8 free spins, whereas 4 and 5 symbols will provide 10 and 12 free spins respectively. A scatter that lands on the reels in this feature will award an extra free spin, which continues until the reels hit a maximum height of six symbols.

When this happens, players are provided with one golden spin, with more being awarded each time a dragon scatter lands on a fully expanded reel.

RTP (return to player)

Play n’ Go have a habit of producing slot games with a rather high return to player rate (RTP) and Dragon Maiden is no different. A medium-to-high volatility slot, this game provides an RTP of 96.49%.
