NFL Betting Tips | Week 3 Recap | 2/5 Tips Landed

It was another week where we went 2-3 with our picks, and for the second week in a row we were a play away from recording a winning week. The week began in fine style when the Carolina Panthers got the sort of dominant win over the Houston Texans that we expected them to get. Our second win came when the Tennessee Titans were just too powerful for the Indianapolis Colts but that was as good as it got for us.

The frustration came in Las Vegas where the Las Vegas Raiders were two seconds away from covering the spread when they led by eight, only to allow Miami Dolphins to score a touchdown with the final play of the game. To make matters worse the Raiders won in overtime but only by a field goal so we lost by 0.5 annoyingly. The Baltimore Ravens also won but not by enough to cover the spread while a critical Jimmy G turnover cost us our bet for San Francisco 49ers to cover against the Green Bay Packers. NFL Betting Tips | Week 4

The first month of the 2021 NFL season concludes in Week 4 of the competition where the headline attraction is the return to Gillette Stadium of Tom Brady, as he takes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to face his former team New England Patriots. That will get plenty of attention this week but here is what we think are the best five punts.

Injuries Can Hamper the Undefeated Panthers

One of the surprise packages this season so far has been the Carolina Panthers. They are 3-0 for the season and deservedly so. Matt Rhule has taken his time to bring the Panthers to the boil after the exit of Cam Newton, but the first three weeks of the campaign suggest his team were going to be very competitive. That might all change now though with the injuries they have to contend with after the win over the Texans.

Christian McCaffrey is out of their match against the Dallas Cowboys and the Panthers offense did not look as good once he left the game. A key defender in Jaycee Horn has been placed on injured IR and although C.J. Henderson is a good trade it is asking a lot for him to hit the ground running here. Dallas looked very good against Philly on Monday night with Dak Prescott managing the game well and the run game looking awesome. Micah Parsons is looking every bit the defensive stud we thought he would be so a much more settled Cowboys can cover a four point spread.

Titans Can Continue the Jetsโ€™ Misery

One of the least surprising things of the NFL season so far has been the continued struggles of the New York Jets. This is a terrible franchise at the minute and their rookie quarterback Zach Wilson is not doing anything to suggest he will cut the mustard at this level. To cut him some slack though, he is getting absolutely no help from his offensive line. He has been sacked 15 times in three matches which isnโ€™t good, but at the same time his seven picks are largely on him.

The Jets now face a Tennessee Titans side who look like they are warming to the task nicely. The huge problem for the Jets is if and when the Titans get ahead here, and the fact the Jets have only scored 20 points in three matches to date suggests Tennessee will get in front, the AFC South side will pound the run game with the seemingly unstoppable Derrick Henry. The injury to A.J. Brown isnโ€™t ideal but it will take more than that to stop Tennessee covering the 7.5pt spread even on the road.

Saints Can Enjoy Their Return Home

The New Orleans Saints get to grace the Superdome for the first time this season after Hurricane Ida put paid to their chances of hosting their week one match. The Saints welcome the New York Giants to Louisiana in a match Taysom Hill and the New Orleans team should be licking their lips at. This was going to be a tough assignment for the Giants as it is, without the heightened atmosphere of fans being in place for the first time in well over 18 months.

Big Blue have got big problems. They look a bang ordinary side and their loss to the Atlanta Falcons last week only piles further pressure on a side battling injuries and a complacency throughout the franchise. While you could argue the Saints arenโ€™t flourishing on offense yet, that side of the ball will improve as Hill gets more comfortable as the main man following in the footsteps of Drew Brees. His defence are playing lights out football though and the pressure they can put on Daniel Jones and the Giants offense should be too much. Back the Saints to cover the spread.

San Francisco Can Feast on Wounded Seahawks

The NFC West battle each other this week and while the clash between the Los Angeles Rams and the Arizona Cardinals might be the more entertaining game, the match between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks offers up the better betting potential, with the Seahawks having a few issues to contend with. Their defence has been a problem which has not been talked about enough for the last season and start of this, so injuries to Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf is the last thing they needed.

The status of both are still to be determined at the time of writing but neither injury looked good so it would take something extraordinary for either to suit up against the 49ers, which plays right into the hands of the home side. I think we saw on Sunday night that Jimmy Gโ€™s shelf life in Santa Clara is beginning to run down but he is a solid enough game manager to feast on his matchups against this Seahawks defence, and then allow his own defence to go after Russell Wilson who is short of top class receivers. Take the Niners to cover the spread here.

Packers Can Continue Their Resurgence at Lambeau

Slowly but surely the Green Bay Packers are warming up nicely, to be fair much like Aaron Rodgers said they would, and their win in San Francisco on Sunday night answered a lot of questions, not least how together this team is. You could see by the celebrations when Mason Crosby landed the game winning field goal that this team are still invested in Matt LaFleur and Rodgers.

The Packers now host a Pittsburgh Steelers side who have had the air taken out of them. Their defence is bashed up and struggling while Big Ben is beginning to show his age. Worse still is they canโ€™t seem to establish any sort of a run game. The last thing you need is to face Rodgers and this Packers side without your best defence but that is the fate of the Steelers here. With the offense floundering and the defence short of top talent, expect Pittsburgh to feel the full force of the Packers in this one.
