The Cleveland Browns are one of the biggest teams in the NFL, so learn all about them with this dedicated team page at BetStarWager, as our experts teach you everything you need to know about the team and its history.
Background
The Cleveland Browns are a member of the AFC North division in which they regularly compete against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and the Cincinnati Bengals. They play their home games at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
The team, as of the 2021 NFL season, is currently being coached by Kevin Stefanski and is owned by Jimmy and Dee Haslam. They arguably have one of the most famous uniforms in the entire NFL, with the team having adopted a color scheme that is rarely changed.
Additionally, they are one of the most unique in the league, as they are the only team not to feature its logo on their helmets. Any time a game is on and you decide to look out for the Cleveland Browns’ new logo on the helmet, we can guarantee that you will not see it.
History
The Cleveland Browns were founded and formed in 1945 by Arthur B. McBride but did not originally join the NFL until after the 1949 season, when they joined the league alongside the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Colts (who no longer exist).
The team has not been without its controversies, as 1995 saw then-owner Art Modell look to move the team to Baltimore. This move was rejected with a compromise having been made, as Modell was allowed to create the Baltimore Ravens but had to leave the Cleveland Browns logo, team name and history in the Cleveland.
Honors
The Cleveland Browns has an honors board that does make for some impressive reading, although it has been a little bare in places in more modern history.
During the team’s formative years, the Cleveland Browns were a force to be reckoned with as they won a championship in their inaugural NFL season, as well as in the 1954, 1955, and 1964 seasons. Additionally, in a feat unequaled in any of the North American major professional sports, the team also played in their league championship game in each of the Browns’ first ten years of existence, winning seven of those ten championship games. Between 1965 and 1995, they reached 14 NFL playoffs, but failed to win a single game.
However, since being reestablished as a franchise in 1999, the good times have been very far and few between. As of the conclusion of the 2020 season, they have had just three winning seasons, two playoff appearances and one playoff win, whilst holding a horrible Cleveland Browns record that saw them win less than a third of their games overall.
Players and icons
Throughout the team’s existence, there have been a number of incredible players to wear the Cleveland Browns jersey over the years with some names known throughout the wider sporting world and not just within the NFL.
For instance, legends have included individuals such as Don Shula, Leroy Kelly, Marion Motley, Clay Matthews, Jim Brown and Otto Graham, whilst the current Cleveland Browns roster includes individuals such as Baker Mayfield, Jarvis Landry and Myles Garrett.
Summary
If you want to be just like the Cleveland Browns’ mascot and jumping up and down supporting this team, then it is worth noting that they are an organisation that appears to be on the rise, despite the poor Cleveland Browns record that has been established in recent years.
If you feel like you can represent the Cleveland Browns jersey well as a fan after reading this dedicated team page, we encourage you to do so!
