Known by many as “America’s Team”, the Dallas Cowboys are the world’s most valuable sports franchise according to Forbes. Learn everything you need to know to understand why the NFC East team is considered to be as valuable as it is and why so many continue to wear the Dallas Cowboys jersey with extreme pride.
Background
The Dallas Cowboys are based in Arlington, Texas, and currently play their home games at the state-of-the art AT&T Stadium, with it having been in use since 2009. The team is a member of the NFC East and regularly competes with the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Football Team in a division that was once considered to be one of the toughest in all of football although recent seasons has seen it decline majorly.
Mike McCarthy is the Dallas Cowboys coach currently, whilst the team is owned by one of the most influential men in the whole of American football, Jerry Jones. The Dallas Cowboys logo is one of the most recognisable, as it is a blue star.
History
The Dallas Cowboys initially joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1960, however the franchise has gone on to grow into one of – if not – the biggest teams in the entire NFL, with the team also having gone on to enjoy a host of success.
The team initially started playing its home games at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas, in 1960 before moving to the Texas Stadium in Irving and playing its games there between 1971 and 2008. As mentioned, the team has moved once again to arguably one of the best stadiums in the league, with the AT&T Stadium located in Arlington, Texas.
Honors
When taking a look at the honors that the team has managed to achieve, it is no surprise as to why so many continue to proudly wear the Dallas Cowboys jersey around the world and continue to support the NFC East franchise in their millions.
During its history, the team has managed to make the Super Bowl on no fewer than eight occasions prior to the beginning of the 2021 NFL Season. The team is second on the all-time list of most Super Bowl appearances, with the New England Patriots making a record eleven. The Dallas Cowboys, though, share eight appearances with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos.
In making eight Super Bowls, they have managed to win eight NFC Championship titles, as well as five of the appearances in one of the world’s biggest sporting events. Additionally, they are the only team to record 20 straight winning seasons (1966-85), and only missed the playoffs twice in those years. However, the team’s last Super Bowl appearance was in 1995.
Dallas Cowboys players and icons
One of the first things that many will think of when they hear the team’s name is in regards to the players that the team has managed to assemble over the years.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks to have featured for the franchise over the years have played a huge role in ensuring that the team were as successful as they were, with individuals such as Troy Aikman, Roger Stuabach and Tony Romo amongst some of those to have been exceptional throughout their playing careers, with Dak Prescott currently looking to achieve the same status as those before him.

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the biggest NFL teams to have ever existed and is one that is extremely well supported. The team may not have been able to reach the Super Bowl, but they are one that will continue to challenge and will eventually get to the biggest sporting event the world has ever seen.
