Background
The Indianapolis Colts play in the AFC South Division where they regularly compete with the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans each year to try and secure themselves a playoff berth.
The team plays its home games at the Lucas Oil Stadium, which is the Indianapolis Colts stadium that is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and has been since 2008.
The Indianapolis Colts jersey features white and blue as its primary colors, with a predominant white being used as the home jersey and the blue being used as the away jersey. In addition, the Indianapolis Colts mascot is perhaps one of the most recognisable in the league, as well.
History
Having spent much of its time in the AFC East between 1970 and 2001, the NFL’s reshuffle saw the Indianapolis Colts be placed into the AFC South Division.
The team was founded in 1953 in Baltimore after then-owner Carroll Rosenbloom purchased the assets of Ohio League member Dayton Triangles-Dallas Texans franchise. The team did not actually move to Indiana until 1984, where they have had plenty of success on the field.
Lucas Oil Stadium has not been the only home, with the club having played at the Memorial Stadium (1953–1983) and the RCA Dome (1984–2007) prior to its move to their current home.
Honors
As mentioned, the Indianapolis Colts have managed to have plenty of success whilst being an NFL franchise, with much of their success being shared across a number of different decades. For instance, as a team that was still based in Baltimore, the team had managed to advance to the playoffs on 10 occasions, winning three NFL Champonship Games. Furthermore, they played in two Super Bowls when in Baltimore, losing one and winning the other.
Located in Indianapolis, the team has managed to appear in the playoffs no fewer than 16 times (as of the 2020 NFL season), winning two Conference Championships and one Super Bowl.
Indianapolis Colts Roster
The Indianapolis Colts roster has been full of talent in the past and even the current team that has been assembled continues to contain a number of quality players that have excellent repuatitons within the NFL.
The roster has featured some exceptional quarterbacks including Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, whilst T.Y. Hilton is another name synonymous with the franchise. Add legends such as Eric Dickenson, Johnny Unitas, Art Donovan, Raymond Berry and Marshall Faulk to the list and it is easy to see why so many know who the Colts are.
Indeed, with such a star-studded squad, it is no surprise that many fear the Indianapolis Colts injury report when it is published each week ahead of a vital NFL fixture.
Summary
Naturally, the Indianapolis Colts is a NFL team that many will look to back when they place a sports wager on the American football and it is not hard to understand why they do given the amount of talent that has been available on the Indianapolis Colts roster over the years.
