Background

The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team that hail from Kansas City, Missouri, and play their home games at Arrowhead Stadium. The team can be found in the AFC Conference of the NFL, competing as a member of the West Division with the likes of the Denver Broncos, the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs jersey features a red coloring that comes with gold and white trim, although they can be found showing off the famous KC Chiefs logo in an alternate uniform that is predominantly white in color.

Speaking of the KC Chiefs logo, it is simply the lettering of ‘KC’ that features the outline of an arrowhead, thus paying homage to its Native American roots, which have proven controversial in the past. The owner of the Kansas City Chiefs is the Hunt family, with Clark Hunt having a main role.

History of the Kansas City Chiefs

There is some history that should be known about this franchise, with the fact that it was not originally a Missouri-based team and one that had a different name altogether to begin with perhaps being a great starting point.

Founded in 1960, the team was originally located in Dallas, Texas, by businessman Lamar Hunt, and played in the American Football League under the name of Dallas Texans. However, in 1963, the team was moved to Kansas City where they became known as they are today. In 1970, they would eventually join the NFL.

Honors

The Kansas City Chiefs have managed to be rather successful within the team’s storied history, having won three AFL Championships before merging and joining the NFL, whilst also becoming the second team to appear in more than one Super Bowl.

They did experience a lot of time outside of the postseason, though, whilst the team’s adventures in the playoffs also proved rather uneventful when they did make the knockout games. Between 1993 and 2017, the team would go on to lose 10 of the 11 matches played, including going on an eight-game losing streak.

However, that soon came to an end as the team has managed to win five of their last six playoff games including the 2020 NFL Season, where they reached the team’s second successive Super Bowl. However, after winning the 2019 edition and winning the first Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl ring for 50 years, they lost in 2020 to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Players and icons

There are a number of players to have worn Kansas City Chiefs jerseys over the years and wear the KC Chiefs logo with pride, with many currently featuring for the side likely to become legends and favourites of the team in the future.

There is no doubt that duo Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce will be amongst those, whilst Tyreek Hill and Clyde Edwards-Helaire will likely be in the conversation in the future. Add these men to the likes of Joe Montana, Emmitt Thomas and Tony Gonzalez, among many others, it is clear that Kansas City Chiefs have had a number of stars appear for them in the NFL.

Summary

There are many who will continue to back the Kansas City Chiefs as a potential Super Bowl team with each season that passes, as the team has continued to show that they are able to dominate many of the opponents that they come up against, whilst not being at their best.
