Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the many teams that are located in the state of California to play in the National Football League. This dedicated team page will highlight everything to know about the franchise and provide some insight into the team’s history.

Background

The Los Angeles Chargers are a team that has gone through a number of changes throughout its existence, although fans will be able to find the Los Angeles Chargers players playing at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Owned by Dean Spanos, the Los Angeles Chargers logo remains the lightning bolt that has been synonymous with the different team names that have been had over the years, whilst the LA Chargers jersey continues to feature the blues, yellows and whites that were once used when the team was known as the San Diego Chargers.

History

As mentioned, the team were not always known as the Los Angeles Chargers, with the franchise having been known as the San Diego Chargers for much of its existence. However, it should be known that the team were initially called the Los Angeles Chargers when they were first formed in 1959 and in the team’s debut season in 1960.

However, they quickly relocated south and to San Diego in 1961, which is where they stayed until 2017 when they decided to return to the city that it all began for the team.

History

The Los Angeles Chargers have had a storied history within the AFL and NFL since their inception, however it may not be quite the story that they wish they had as the team has not been as successful as they would have wished they were.

The team managed to win the AFL Championship in 1963, as well as reaching the AFL playoffs five times and the AFL Championship Game four times before joining the NFL in 1970. Since then, the team has been able to make at least 13 trips to the playoffs, whilst turning four of those into the AFC Championship Game.

However, they have only won that game once so far in the team’s history, with those in Los Angeles Chargers attendance witnessing their team reach Super Bowl XXIX, although that would end in a defeat to state rivals, San Francisco 49ers in 1994.

Los Angeles Chargers Roster

There have been a number of exceptional Los Angeles Chargers players to have featured for the franchise throughout its existence over the years, with a number of players having been able to get themselves inducted into the wider Hall of Fame.

Amongst the Los Angeles Chargers players to have had incredible careers are Dan Fouts and Lance Alworth who both had their Los Angeles Chargers jersey numbers retired, as did Junior Seau and LaDainian Tomlinson.

Upcoming stars in the game as of the 2021 NFL season such as Justin Herbert have appeared on the Los Angeles Chargers roster.

Summary

The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the most exciting franchises in the National Football League at the moment and one of the teams to continue to watch in the AFC West Division. Make sure you place the best bets on this team to ensure you have a positive experience.
