Tennessee Titans

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team that is a member of the AFC South and are one of the top franchises in the entire NFL. Check out this dedicated team page to learn everything about them and why you may want to place a wager on them in the future.

Background

The Tennessee Titans are a team that is based in Nashville, Tennessee, and is a member of the AFC South, competing against the Indianapolis Colts, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Houston Texans for a playoff berth each season.

Fans can go and watch the team play its home games at the Tennessee Titans stadium, which is known as the Nissan Stadium. The Tennessee Titans logo is a ‘T’ that is enclosed within a circle and has blue flames coming away from it.

History

This particular NFL franchise has plenty of history within the sport, with the team having been relocated numerous times throughout its existence, whilst also going through a number of different name changes.

They were initially known as the Houston Oilers after they were formed in 1960 in Houston, Texas, as a member of the American Football League (AFL). However, the team would go on to relocate from Houston in 1997 by moving to Nashville, although they actually played in Memphis for one season as they waited for their new stadium to be built.

The team moves to Vanderbilt Stadium in 1998 for one season, in which the team were known as the Tennessee Oilers, however the 1999 NFL would see the franchise adopt the Tennessee Titans name that everyone knows them for today, whilst also being the first season in which they were able to play at the Nissan Stadium – albeit under a different name.

Honors

The Tennessee Titans had a lot of success when they were known as the Oilers, having been able to win the first two AFL Champioships and four division titles before joining the NFL in 1970 as part of the AFL-NFL merger that took place.

Since then, the club has had a number of mixed years within the NFL, with just one Super Bowl appearance as of the end of the 2020 NFL season (back in 1999, which they lost). Between 1999 and 2003, they reached the playoffs in all but one of those seasons, however playoff runs became rare in the 13 years that followed (just two).

Since 2016 (and as of the beginning of the 2021 season), the Titans have managed to have five consecutive winning seasons, thus showing that they have since improved.

Tennesse Titans Roster

One reason for why the team has been able to improve significantly over recent years will likely be down to the Tennessee Titans roster that the club has managed to create. Indeed, individuals such as Derrick Henry and Teneesee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannerhill have been incredibly important and have provided some much needed strength to the Tennessee Titans depth chart.

Warren Moon, Steve McNair, Eddie George, Elvin Bethea and Earl Campbell are just some of the legendary players to have worn the Tennessee Titans logo on their jersey at one point in history.

Summary

The Tennessee Titans are one of the top AFC teams to watch in the NFL at the moment and one of those that many will always consider to be a dark horse when thinking about a side that can potentially win a Super Bowl title.

If the Tennessee Titans roster can perform as well as the depth chart suggests it could, then it might not be long until they add another title to its honors board!
