Many may know that the current name is the Washington Football Team’s new name as they were once known as the Washington Redskins. However, with the world continuing to evolve and modernise, a name change was deemed necessary. A new Washington Football Team name is expected to be announced in 2022.

The Washington Football Team logo has changed over time, as well, with the team having gone away from the one of a Native American chief to one that just simply depicts a golden ‘W’ inside a maroon-coloured box, which happen to be the colors that the team play in. Expect the Washington Football Team logo to change in 2022 as well, should the Washington Football Team name be changed.

The Washington Football Team stadium is called FedExField and is located in Landover, Maryland, with thousands of fans regularly attending the home matches that the team is involved in, especially when it constitutes an NFC East fixture. The team has a strong rivalry with the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles because of the division.

The Washington Football Team was initially founded in the state of Massachusetts, being called the Boston Braves in 1932. However, they were quickly changed and called the Boston Redskins between 1933 and 1936. Again, another move and name change happened in 1937, as the team was relocated to Washington, D.C. and subsequently became known as the Washington Redskins up to the 2020 NFL season.

They are one of the oldest franchises to be involved in the NFL, with the team having played more than 1,000 games in the league, whilst also being one of five teams to have won more than 600 games.

The honors board for the Washington Football Team has seen the franchise have a rather mixed amount of success in its history. The early years were rather kind to the team, as the period between 1936 and 1945 saw the team go to the NFL Championship six times and win two of those. However, the next best period in the team’s history was between 1982 and 1991, where they appeared in the postseason on seven occasions, winning the Conference title four times and winning three Super Bowls in four appearances.

However, the period between 1946 and 1970 was one of the worst for the club, as the Washington Football Team only managed to post four winning seasons in those years and never reached the playoffs. 1956 to 1968 saw the team never record a winning season.

In their entirety, the Washington Football Team (as of the 2020 NFL season) has managed to win 14 division titles and make 24 postseason appearances, as well as three Super Bowl victories.
